When it comes to sports men’s events generally have a larger following. The prize money for male events is usually much higher than the equivalent female event and this has come under some controversy in recent times as people argue for equal rights for any gender. Yet as the men’s events continue to draw in the crowds they will continue to take home the larger winnings. This is not based on sexism it is based on the fact that whatever causes more people to watch TV is who will get paid the most, and that makes sense. However, it is also true that many women’s events are just as, or more, entertaining to watch than men’s. Women’s tennis is one sport that has seen a huge growth in audiences thanks to stars like the Williams sisters, Anna Kournikova and Maria Sharapova. Other sports are yet to follow suit but one sport that is slowly gaining viewers is women’s golf.
There are growing audiences in women’s golf and the reason is often put down to the beauty of some of the athletes. While women’s sport itself is worth watching it was stars like Anna Kournikova who attracted many viewers to tennis. Perhaps if people choose to watch golf for beauty, they will stay for the incredible competition that is taking place, as they did with tennis. Here are some of our favorite female golf athletes as they are both incredible players and incredible looking.
Paula Creamer
In fourth place is Paula Creamer. She is 33 years old and is an incredible golfer. She won the U.S Women’s Open in 2010 and has been as high as number 2 in the world rankings. She is known in the professional circuit as the Pink Panther due to her fondness for pink but is also known for her incredibly accurate drives. With 12 wins in her career, Creamer is an outstanding golfer and just happens to be incredibly beautiful as well.
Natalie Gulbis
In third place is Natalie Gulbis. Natalie is 37 years old and turned pro in 2001. To date, she has four professional wins under her belt and is set to retire after the 2020 season. Natalie is not one to stay away from controversy as she has embraced her sex symbol status. She released a calendar in 2004 that featured her in swimwear. The calendar was banned at golf events as it was deemed inappropriate.
She has embraced her celebrity lifestyle as well appearing on a number of reality tv shows and contributing to a column in FHM.
Sydnee Michaels
In second place is Sydnee Michaels and she is the number one in many people’s eyes. She is 31 years old and has been playing professionally since 2010. She has two professional wins under her belt. Sydnee has embraced controversy as well as she was unhappy that a nongolfing female made it on the cover of Golfers Digest. She has highlighted that female golfer are beautiful strong athletes and should not be ignored. We totally agree Sydnee.
Lexi Thompson
Alexis Noel Thompson, or Lexi for short is our number one choice. She is 25 years old and went pro at the age of 15 in 2010. At the age of 12 she became the youngest ever golfer to play in the U.S Women’s Open. She has 14 professional wins and is still not close to the end of her career.
There is a huge buzz about this athlete in the world of golf and she appears ready to light up the greens and fairways for many years to come.
Women in sport should be respected for their athletic ability and incredible achievements not just for their beauty. The women selected in this list are all incredible athletes, they just happen to be incredibly beautiful too.
